I had a pastor years ago who said, "God will honor what you honor." The phrase came back to me tonight while listening to a Bob Mumford tape called "The Agape Road". What Bob said was "what you focus on becomes bigger" (as in a bigger, more important part of your life).
So what I'd like to explore is the truth of that first statement. In the natural, if you take care of something (like a plant), it will flourish. So in a sense, you have "honored" the plant, and there was a resultant blessing. But what about the spiritual? How does it apply to our worship life? Our ministries in the church?
Is it true that if we honor worship, or specific expressions of worship like dance or prophetic singing or pageantry, that it will flourish? Is it even a scriptural :bible: concept to say that God will bring blessing on the things we honor?
I would surely like to think so. But then, that brings us to the other part of the corollary: that if we dishonor something, God will not honor it. Sometimes I wonder if that is why worship in some fellowships is not robust and life-giving. Maybe there has been "dishonor" of worship expression from some source.
We tend to blame lack-luster worship on worship leaders, or an apathetic congregation. I wonder how much of that is, instead, brought on by a failure to give validation and place for the thing that we want to flourish.
We'd love for everyone to keep up on your coming ministry events. We may not always be able to attend, but we can all certainly pray for the things coming up.
To add an event to the ZFF Calendar, click on the ZFF Events link at the top of the page. You will be taken to the calendar for the current month. At the bottom, click on "add event".
Choose one date, or ranged or recurring event. Just follow the prompts, it's all pretty clear. Then write the description of your event. You'll have the same posting tools as you do when you start a new topic in the forums, and can add images. You could also link to a topic in the billboard forum if you anticipate questions or discussion about your event.
You can put in as much information there as you like....just do it as a normal posting in the box provided. Your event will appear on the index as a link. When members click on the calendar listing, they will see your entire post.
You can also use the calendar for private, personal notifications that only you can view. Just change the "Type of Event" box from "public event" to "personal event". Your reminder will appear on the main forum page when it comes into the time perameters. But only YOU will be able to see it. If you want to be sure that is true, just log out and view the upcoming events or click into the calendar from the link in the top tool bar. Guests may view all public calendar events. If your event is not displayed, then you will know that only you will be viewing it.
You may also advertise your event in the Billboard forum.
Please, y'all......go through your address books and send the link to this site to any arts and worship ministers you know and invite them here. (easy way--forward them the invitation e-mail you received) We'd appreciate so much having help getting the word out. hofar:
It will be a while before the search engines pick us up, and we don't yet have a link uploaded to our ZF website, so we would appreciate our current members to start noising us about.
Thanks!
Although I've produced some banner commissions, I haven't made a new banner for my own collection in a long time. But I sense the cloud moving again and am working on a banner that I had designed before we moved to Kansas City.
In fact, most of the materials had already been gathered and stored in a box that has been on a shelf waiting. It is an "I AM" banner. It's going to take a while to take shape, because the first step will be constructing the background fabric. It will be an applique of all the flame shapes cut out of the brocade from the Seven Spirits series. (See ZionFire website for picture. Link at bottom of my posts.) I have it partially done on my workshop table right now.
I've taken some time off to get this message board going, but now that it's up and running smoothly, it's time to get back in the workshop. I'll give some updates, and maybe pix, as I go along.
Please send up some prayers whenever the Lord brings this to mind. Banner creation is a front-line kingdom activity, and I'm calling for intercessors. :praise:
I've missed being in community with our fellow visual arts ministers, and I'm so excited to now have this place where we can connect, regardless of schedules, geography or timezones.
Tomato and Chickpea Soup
Serves 4-6
1 Tablespoon olive oil
1 small onion, chopped
2 cloves garlic, crushed
3 Tablespoons chopped cilantro
1 - 15.5 oz can chickpeas (garbanzos) drained
2 of the bean cans full of tomato juice
2 bean cans full of water
1/4 cup white rice
1 tsp sea salt
black pepper to taste
2 good shots of Louisiana hot souce, or use a pinch of cayenne pepper
1 tsp allspice
Cilantro is very central to this soup. If you absolutely hate cilantro, try parsley. It will be mild and pleasant.
In a medium saucepan, heat the oil, add the onions and garlic and saute for about 10 minutes. Careful not to allow the garlic to burn! Add remaining ingredients and bring to a boil, Lower heat, cover and cook til rice is done.
Dear Zion Fire
