Judson Cornwall is often referred to as a "father of the faith" and was a huge supporter of the expressive worship movement. [Dean and I have spent some time with Judson when all our faces were in the carpet. He called it "mug in the rug" time.] He has written over 50 books on the subject, and has mentored worshippers from all over the world with his solid bibical teachings on the subject of worship. We became acquaintances through events we did together, and eventually became dear friends. I'd like to share a list of some of his books that are my favorites, and that I consider to be some of his best work.
If you know and love Judson's work too, please add your favorites and recommendations to this thread.
Let Us Abide - what it means to "dwell in God" as we walk out our daily lives.
Let Us Be Holy - the scriptural meanings of holiness and what it means to us as believers, and how real holiness IS achievable.
Let Us Draw Near - a unique look at Moses Tabernacle written in a novel style from the perspective of the participants. The basis for the pageantry presentation that I toured with for several years called "Ark of His Presence."
The Priesthood of the Believer - and incredible teaching from Sam Sasser that has been transcribed and presented by Judson Cornwall. Revelational truths about the requirements of a modern day "priest" before the Lord.
Worship as David Lived It- The more David worshiped God, the more he knew him and loved him. This book is for readers who want to be more like David.
Forbidden Glory Judson's final book BEFORE he wrote his actual final book.....the culmination of his many years of ministry and gleaned wisdom. A scriptural exegesis of all the facets of pride that affect us as worshipping believers.
Dying with Grace Probably on my favorites list because I knew him so well by the time he was facing his last days. I can hear his voice and inflections as he tells the story of how he dealt with living way past his death sentence. And though it may be hard to fathom, there is a lot of funny stuff in this book.
Look! a shape & size-friendly draped pullover dance garment!

I'm always on the lookout for flattering, yet graceful dance garments that can accomodate various body sizes and shapes. Here is one that is commercially available from Dance Distributors. Beautiful colors (also available in white) Inexpensive (around $17), and accommodates child, adult & plus sizes.
Its the first solution I've seen in a long time that still looks like a shaped garment but accommodates some bulges and bumps we do want to hide.
Check out their other worship dance items while you are at the website...they offer a "cross dress" that is quite striking, and some flag-related items, among other things.
Also if you haven't seen my post on the dance oval, another garmenting solution...you can check it out <URL url="http://zionfirefriends.com/index.php?showtopic=310">HERE.
I'm writing a book. I've got the page numbers done.
I don't know what your experience is with clown ministry, but I suspect for most people that there is a presumption that it is an avenue used to minister to children. And yes, it can be very effective used in that way. But it can also be an effective way to communicate Kingdom truths to adults as well, using both humor and pathos in well planned and prayed-through presentations and skits.
Dean and I were part of a clown ministry troupe many years ago called "Peculiar People." These were mime or silent clowns who produced skits and musical interpretations that were often very powerful and could bring people to tears, repentance, healing and salvation. The clown personna is gender-neutral, anonymous, and yet the character representation can reveal the most secret of inner characters.....and therefore people of any age, sex or background can relate without the personality of the artist getting in the way.
When you are developing your clown personna, a lot of soul searching can go on before the Lord reveals who your clown character is and how that character will be interpreted in make-up, garmenting and in personality. That character can then be used to make some powerful communications, either solo or as part of a troupe, that can only be catogorized as ministry.
I've gone on to use some of the mime skills I started developing with clown ministry into a basis for much of my interpretive dance choreography that I use today.
So I'd just like to encourage those of you who have some clowning experience to share it with us and maybe seek the Lord for a plan on how to use your character in service to the Kingdom. We have a couple of ZFF members here with some experience in this area that can be a resource to you.
...and for anyone seeking to learn more about dramatic arts ministries.
Ezekiel is the prophet most known for his physical parables. In fact from chapter 31 on, he carries out the rest of his ministry in silence, and so is a good model for prophetic mime (and clown) ministries. But all of his ministry uses drama to tell God's story, so the application is broader than just mime.
Drama is a biblical form of expressing God's Word. Jeremiah, Ezekiel, Hosea, and other prophets acted out God's message to the people. Jesus' own parables were a dramatic presentation of God's truth. Drama has power in worship. It reveals our inner desires and passions and draws us deeper into the meaning of Scripture.
All worship arts ministries are telling God's story by way of their own medium, so we are all dramatists in a sense. We hope this forum will inspire lively input and be a resource for those who come here. Please contribute your experiences, questions, or resources to the discussions here.
There seemed to be one more area of arts ministry that we were not addressing here, so we have opened a new forum:
<URL url="http://zionfirefriends.com/index.php?showforum=38">EZEKIEL'S THEATER
Ezekiel is the prophet most associated with communicating through physical parables and dramas, hence the title. There is chapter after chapter in which he does not speak, but instead acts out the messages of God. I'll be adding something more about that in the welcome thread in the forum.
Hope y'all enjoy it, and please do not hesitate to contribute your experiences, questions, and or any information you would like to share about the dramatic arts in ministry.
OH! And I almost forgot....I installed a <URL url="http://zionfirefriends.com/index.php?showforum=11">"Recommend ZFF to a Friend" form in the Guest forum. There's a link to it right on the index page in the Guest forum description. Now would be a perfect time to invite any drama arts people you know to come and check us out!
