Helena, I would love to fully understand the fulfillment of the tabernacle in the new covenant - do you have any teaching resources available on this topic?

This thread: <URL url="http://zionfirefriends.com/index.php?showtopic=1614"> The Tabernacle, a pattern for Christian worship will give you a bit of an introductory overview of some of those fulfillments.

These books by Kevin J. Conner mentioned in that topic would be a really good place to find the information you are seeking in great depth (links are to their Amazon purchase page):

Also, this web page has a listing of direct parallels of the Tabernacle typology of the fulfillment by Jesus.

My topic and this article just begin to scratch the surface of the incredible messages to us built into the design and furnishings of the Tabernacle. Each item, and the way it was made and used have layers and layers of symbolic meaning and message. It's something that could be made a life-long study.

One of the most awesome revelations for me has been to come to some understanding of the Mercy Seat, which sits upon the Ark of the Covenant.

The Mercy Seat is the place between the two cherubim, and is the place where the blood of the atonement was poured by the high priest when he came into the Holy of Holies that one day of the year. As Christians, we are taught that Jesus has provided his own blood for our atonement. But do we realize that it was His blood that was poured on the Mercy Seat in the heavenly Tabernacle spoken of in Revelations?. (That is a big wow.) The Mercy Seat and the cherubim were made of solid gold....an emblem of deity. Who are the cherubim? They represent the Father and the Holy Spirit who are overlooking the finished work of the Son through His atoning blood poured on the Mercy Seat...in fact, Yeshua IS our Mercy Seat of the new covenant.

The Mercy Seat is surrounded by a golden crown, which represents the sovereign kingship of Christ. The Mercy Seat is also the throne of God as described in Psalm 80:1.(...You who are enthroned between the cherubim....") So if you ever wonder what the throne of God looks like, or need to represent it in some way....know that we've already been given the picture of God's throne in the Mercy Seat.

On a slightly different, but related topic, you will sometimes come across the concept of the Restoration of David's Tabernacle.

There is an excellent article by Avner Boskey (a respected messianic teacher and musician living in Israel) on this subject that can be found <URL url="http://www.davidstent.org/Images/davidstabernacle.pdf">here. I would highly recommend reading it.

The essence of his teaching is that Amos 9:11 (the key verse on this topic) is a promise that applies to the Jewish people and it is a form of replacement theology to apply this to something that the church is doing.

Days of Elijah - note that the books Helena listed are also available on Amazon.co.uk. But the one on Tabernacle of David is rather pricey and it might work out cheaper to get it from Amazon.com even though the postage is more. The others are probably cheaper on Amazon.co.uk. I think I better do my post on book sourcing soon.

Helena - whilst looking up the above I noticed that there's a book called The Feasts Of Israel by Kevin Connor. I haven't come across this before and I was wondering if you've read it.

Thank you for that link to Avner Boskey's article....what a wealth of stuff there! Avner used to live in Kansas City. We did some ministry with him while he was here in town. We respect him very much.

I wasn't aware of Conner's book on the <URL url="http://www.amazon.com/Feasts-Israel-Kevin-J-Conner/dp/0914936425/?tag=zionf-20">Feasts of Israel.....but his other stuff is all so good that I think that definitely might be one worth exploring. There's one on <URL url="http://www.amazon.com/Covenants-Kevin-J-Conner/dp/0914936778/?tag=zionf-20">The Covenants, too, that I may be ordering....

Here's a listing of his works:

I have now done my post on book sourcing, and it's in the marketplace forum.

Note that the guy is actually called Kevin J. Conner (not Connor). However, just to confuse matters, the wrong spelling is used for a couple of his books on Amazon. I've sent them corrections and hopefully it will be fixed in a few days.

Days of Elijah - I am planning to do an order from Amazon.com shortly. I'd be quite happy to put the Tabernacle of David book on if you want. It will work out cheaper than getting it from Amazon.co.uk, and also cheaper than if you just ordered it from Amazon.com as there is a "per-order" element to the shipping cost that we could share between us. If you're interested, please drop me a PM in the next couple of days.

Wow - Thank you for the responses. A lot of information to digest there. It will be another couple of days before I have time to really sit and digest the articles you both linked for me but I will let you know my thoughts. Blessings DOE
