"Friends of God" Worship Conf. Feb 25 (REPORT) - HelenaZF - 02-23-2006

Just plugged in at the last minute. Dean will be speaking on "Intimate Worship" in the afternoon session on Saturday. We also have been asked to lead a time of intercessory worship (harp & bowl style) following the aftenoon session. Because of the free-flowing style of the conference, we can't give an exact time for either session, but it looks like Dean may start teaching around 4pm. Come if you can!

"Friends of God" Worship Conf. Feb 25 (REPORT) - DeanZF - 02-25-2006

It was a very nice, small group of folks, toward the end of their event. I was a last minute substitute for someone who was unable to keep their commitment, but glad to be able to share. The folks are in a fairly new congregation and the pastor shared with me that "they are a hungry people." They have had a limited exposure to what we've come to know as extravagant worship, and some experience with IHOP's "Harp & Bowl" style services and other local charismatic expressions. ZionFire was recommended to them by another of the conference speakers and was enthusiastically welcomed.

I shared mostly about what new Testament scriptures have to say about worship and what we should expect "in return". Father's looking for "true worshipers" who will worship in spirit and truth. And Father is looking for those who will allow themselves to be changed more and more into His image. He wants His kids to look and smell like Him! Helena & I then led about an hour of praise and worship to close their conference. Seemed like they were appreciative and at least somewhat affected by our time together. May it be so, my Lord!

Every success in growing a worshipping congregation!! Off to a great start.

You know how when you minister somewhere, what God has in mind for you to do isn't always what YOU thought you were there to do? We thought we were there to help out a friend and bring a contribution to the conference.....and I'm sure we did that. But there was more....

The "Friends of God" ministry has seen a real blessing on their outreach to Mormons.....at one meeting seeing over 100 Mormons come to the altar and commit themselves to Jesus.

Recently, in our congregation, a young woman came forward and announced that God had spoken to her that the call on her life would be in outreach to area Mormons. We are in the process of getting her connected with this already fruitful ministry. And they are excited to meet and talk with her.

You just never know do you?

That all sounds really good! I was interested in the shofar stuff. I'm trying to find other women who have/are using a shofar. Was there any at this conference or were the shofar blowers all male?

Thing is, the Lord had me get this shofar a few months ago and I found I could play it straight off. My pastor's a bit iffy about me using it in church so naturally I haven't done so - I try to be an obedient gal! I have been invited to use it at our <URL url="http://www.wearalive.co.uk">Festival of Christian arts and crafts this summer where we're having a big open air worship event. The organiser has asked me to announce the beginning of the service over the PA with my shofar. She's also asked me to blow it at the dawn prayer meeting at the commencement of the ten day festival. I will be thrilled so to do but I'd still like to find some other ladies who blow the shofar.

"Friends of God" Worship Conf. Feb 25 (REPORT) - HelenaZF - 03-20-2006

We were only there for a small part of the conference, so I'm not sure what was done with or taught about the shofar.

Personally, I can make a noise on it, but I wouldn't consider myself a shofar player. I do use it as a pageantry symbol, to represent the voice of the Lord. I might choreograph a processionalist to carry one overhead or mime that they are sounding it in the pageantry. When blown with anointing, the shofar pierces right through your soul to your spirit. It awakes, it calls to war, it sounds an alarm, it puts the enemy on notice.
