Pastors...let us get to know you a bit. Tell us a bit about your situation, your worship vision, and how you see your role in pastoring creative arts people. You are welcome to respond in anyway you like to this topic, however I'll provide a few questions to get the ball rolling. You can respond to any or all of these questions with as much or as little information as seems right to you: 1. What is the nature of your pastorate? 2. What denomination are you affiliated with, if any? 3. Do you currently have a congregation or flock of some kind? 4. Do you oversee a worship team, and who is in it? 5. What is your vision for the release of worship in your charge? 6. What do you think prevents/promotes healthy expression of arts ministry in the church? |

1. What is the nature of your pastorate? I have been an ordained pastor for 16 years. I have been in ministry since 1976, when I became a member of the Body of Christ. 2. What denomination are you affiliated with, if any? My ordination is United Methodist but I recognize I am truly a Methocostal 3. Do you currently have a congregation or flock of some kind? I no longer have a congregation as I am now on disability. But you never know what God has up his sleeves for pastoral ministry 4. Do you oversee a worship team, and who is in it? I have overseen numerous clowns in ministry over the years and many drama minded folks but never had the privilege of overseeing the totality of what I believe is the Worship Arts. 5. What is your vision for the release of worship in your charge? My vision is to find and use the gifts and callings in each person to its fullest. If that is baking lemon pies use that gift; if it is intercession, use it. If you have been in a band or choir growing up get that gift out, dust it off and gather with others who have those same gifts to learn what schools do not teach you. That musical gift is for use by Christ in rebuilding the kingdom. All of the demands commitment which you can find discussed in Rebbie's remarks on Psalm 125 6. What do you think prevents/promotes healthy expression of arts ministry in the church? Ego,ego, ego, lack of commitment to something that says serve rather than shine. Zionfire and I have discussed al lot the need for the worship team (musicians to most) should be unseen except for the leader who leads the flow with the altar guild folk having set the focus point in front of the congregation which may include dance, banners, wall decor and a return of the altar to the front of the congregation where it belongs decorated to center our thoughts on the One we are worshipping. |
