Enable Java in your browser

TO ENABLE JAVA for PC

FireFox

  • Open Firefox
  • Click on the Tools menu then click on Options
  • Click on the Web Features image on the left
  • Now either Place or Remove the checkmark beside "Enable Java", based on your preferences.
  • Click Ok.
Navigator 3.x

  • Go to "Options | Network Preferences..." from the main menu
  • Change to the "Languages" tab
  • To enable: make sure "Enable Java" check box is checked
    To disable: make sure "Enable Java" check box is unchecked
  • Restart the browser


Communicator 4.x

  • Go to "Edit | Preferences..." from the main menu
  • Select "Advanced" panel
  • To enable: make sure "Enable Java" check box is checked.
    To disable: make sure "Enable Java" check box is unchecked.
  • Restart the browser


Explorer 3.x

  • Go to "View | Options..." from the main menu
  • Change to the "Security" tab
  • To enable: make sure "Enable Java programs" check box is checked
    To disable: make sure "Enable Java programs" check box is unchecked
  • Restart the browser

    Explorer 4.x


    • Go to "View | Internet Options..." from the main menu
    • Change to the "Security" tab
    • Select "Custom" and click on the "Settings..." button
    • To enable: make sure "Disable Java" is selected under "Java."
      To disable: make sure a setting other than "Disable Java" is selected under "Java." If you're not sure which setting to choose, select "High safety"
    • Restart the browser


    Explorer 5.x

    • Go to "Tools | Internet Options..." from the main menu
    • Change to the "Security" tab
    • Click "Custom Level..." button
    • To enable: make sure "Disable Java" is selected under "Java."
      To disable: make sure a setting other than "Disable Java" is selected under "Java." If you're not sure which setting to choose, select "High safety"
    • Restart the browser


    Simply reloading the page, rather than restarting the browser, maybe sufficient under most conditions and browser versions.

ENABLING JAVA FOR MACINTOSH

FireFox:

  • Open Firefox
  • Click on the Firefox menu then click on Preferences
  • Click on the Web Features image on the left
  • Now either Place or Remove the checkmark beside "Enable Java", based on your preferences.
  • Click Ok.
For Internet Explorer:

  • For Mac OS X, download and install the latest version of Java for Mac OS X.
  • For Mac OS 9 and earlier, download and install the MRJ 2.2.5. Note: WebCT Vista 3.0 currently does not support Mac OS 9 as a client operating system.
In addition, you will need to perform the following adjustments:

IE 5.2

  • From the menu bar select Explorer then choose Preferences
  • Select the arrow next to Web Browser to expand the options
  • Select Java
  • Under Java Options select the option Enable Java
  • Click OK
IE 5.0 and 5.1

  • From the menu bar select Edit then choose Preferences
  • Select the arrow next to Web Browser to expand the options
  • Select Java
  • Under Java Options select the option Enable Java
  • Click OK
